Changes in payment and logistic systems have made e-commerce accessible to all, effectively changing the way customers and suppliers interact with each other. These changes will transform the retail landscape as overseas consumers will be able to buy products directly from Chinese manufacturers.  

On Thursday, June 11 starting at 8:00am, We are pleased to welcome Alan Tien, General Manager of PayPal BeiBao China to explore the trends in payment and logistic systems and provide real examples of how Chinese SMEs have effectively transformed their way of doing business.

About the Speaker

Alan Tien, the GM of PayPal BeiBao China, has overall responsibility for the daily operations for PayPal China, including marketing and sales, and establishing the PayPal brand and community of users in China.

As a veteran of the internet industry, Alan has 10 years of experience in multiple management positions. His most recent post prior to returning to PayPal was China GM of Geni.com, a privately-owned SNS (Social Networking Site) company.

Previously, Alan was the Country Product Manager of PayPal China, where he launched the PayPal China site in 2005. Before his relocation to China, Alan was Senior Product Manager of PayPal based in San Jose, California, where he delivered PayPal Web Services from idea conception to product 1.0 launch.

Prior to PayPal, Alan was the Platform Product Manager for Jam cracker, a $120m Application Service Provider (ASP) startup; Business Development Manager for World prints, another internet startup; Director for a small, private consulting firm; and a consultant at Accenture (when it was still called Andersen Consulting).

Alan received his BS degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
